Welcome Aboard AMALU, our 46ft Cresta/Custom Sportfisher Vessel which has undergone a Full Rebuild in 2018-2019. We Made Sure her Wide Flat Front Deck was Modified with Plenty of Space to Allow 5 anglers to Easily Cast Simultaneously from the Front of the Boat. Railings were also Customised for Easy Access all around the vessel.
The boat is fully equipped with the best SIMRAD electronics technology, covering all fishing necessities while Enjoying the Comfort and Space of our Living Area and Cabins which contains 3 Rooms (8 Berths) and 2 Bathrooms. Amalu is Air-conditionned throughout its Entire Interior and can accommodate a Maximum of 5 Anglers and 4 Crew members.

Welcome Aboard AIONA, our 32ft Luhrs Express Vessel. This little fishing machine is perfect for day trips as well as short Liveaboard trips. AIONA is fully customized and rigged for both gamefishing and hardcore sportfishing.The boat is fully equipped with the best FURUNO and SIMRAD electronics technology, covering all fishing necessities while Enjoying the Comfort of our cabin that can sleep up to 4 anglers. AIONA can take up to 8 anglers on day trips.

My name is Thomas Stephens, I’m Ni-Vanuatu, been here all my life. I’m one of the skippers running Dropcast Fishing. Based on the other side of the island, we have a pretty good fishery out there. We chase blue marlins, yellowfins, wahoos, and dollies, as well as sailfish, doggies, GTs, and all that.Most of what I do are day charters—like half, 3/4, and full day—to go FAD fishing, which includes topwater yellowfins, live baiting, and many different styles. But I’m also doing liveaboards, mostly targeting doggies and GTs, with other bycatch along the way. We go for a maximum of 4-day liveaboards, or we can do much longer trips from selected resorts in Vila or Santo.
Aiona is a 32ft Luhrs customized by us. We made a serious fishing vessel, so she’s fully set up for any way of fishing you want to do.Always been fishing addicted, so I started working with Andrea in 2017. I was a deckie for him on Amalu for about 5 years, and we caught plenty together—that’s where the addiction comes from. In 2022, I went to Cairns, did a complete season chasing giant black marlins on a 43ft O’Brien named Ruckus, and we caught 2 fish that hit the mark. Days I will remember for the rest of my life.Now I’m ready to take things to next level and drive Amalu. Take clients up the islands and help them catch that fish of a lifetime.

Captain Andrea Traverso
Our story starts 30 years ago in the Amazing Vanuatu Archipelago. Andrea, 5th Generation Born on the island of Port-Vila is initiated at Fishing at a very young age by his late Father. He later on Perfects his Skills thanks to his Thriving Passion of the Sea. Not a single Weekend is spent away from his Dingy from the Age of 10 and was later on been upgraded to 3.9M Aluminium Boat at the age of 15. At the age of 21, he is back on the island, after 3 years spent in Brisbane where he graduates from a Bachelor of Marine Biology and starts his own Sportfishing Business. He dreams of starting the first charter business in Vanuatu, specialising in Sportfishing chasing Monster Dogtooth tunas and Giant Trevallys , and not just Marlin trolling. This is when Vanuatu Sportfishing Adventures is born. After 8 years of Successful Business, working in partnership with a renown Australian Based Fishing Agency, and Part-Owning and managing a 4 Boats Fleet, he Decides he wants Another Challenge.
In March 2018, he purchases a 46ft Cresta and rebuilds it from scratch. The project has its ups and downs, he finishes at Hospital and has to be medivac to New Caledonia for hand surgery (yes, a fisherman not an handyman) but he doesn’t loose his motivation to finish it. In March 2019 after what he felt like the longest year of his life, Andrea has finally achieved his dream. He will now be able to fish all over the archipelago of Vanuatu and share his passion with other fishing lovers. The 46ft Cresta is being renamed from Fiesta to Amalu. The name is a mix of Andrea’s sons names (Matteo and Luca) and his. Andrea’s new project is to run his charter business from the Dropcast Base in Port-Vila harbour as well as live onboards. DropCast just because anyone who has ever fish with Andrea knows that’s what he says on board before an awesome fishing day starts: “ok now drop, and cast!!!”

Fishing in Vanuatu

The fishing in Vanuatu is all about variety and trophy sizes. Jigging and popping for monster Dogtooth tuna and giant trevally is the ultimate experience while traveling on our remote island liveaboard package.The fishing from Vanuatu’s capital Port Vila, Efate is mostly focused on the big pelagics we have around our FADs. On these trips you will mostly be targeting barrel size Yellow Fin Tuna on topwater and jigs as well as Blue Marlin. Wahoos, Mahi-mahi, Sailfish and more are also part of the game chasing on light tackle.
